Google Play Protect

Google Play Protect

All Kyocera smartphones are enabled with Google Play Protect to help keep device applications and data private. When turned on, Google Play Protect automatically scans the device and makes sure it has the latest in mobile security, so users can rest easy.

  • Runs a safety check on apps from the Google Play Store before they get downloaded
  • Checks device for potentially harmful apps (malware) from other sources
  • Warns about potentially harmful apps and may deactivate or remove the harmful apps from device
  • Warns about detected apps that violate the Google Unwanted Software Policy by hiding or misrepresenting important information
  • Sends privacy alerts about apps that can get user permissions to access personal information, violating the Developer Policy

How to turn Google Play Protect on or off:  Google Play Protect is on by default, but you can turn it off. For security, we recommend that you always keep Google Play Protect on.

  • Open the Google Play Store app
  • At the top right, tap the profile icon
  • Tap Play Protect  Settings
  • Turn Scan apps with Play Protect on or off

Mobile Device Management (MDM) and OEMCONFIG

Zero-touch deployment through most MDMs. Remotely monitor and manage employee devices to make sure they are compliant with company use and security policies. Gives the administrator the ability to locate, lock, and wipe devices remotely.

OEMCONFIG is a small application installed on to the device by EMMs and used for exposing API’s to the EMM administrator via managed application configuration. Kyocera’s OEMCONFIG application offers extended capabilities on all EMMs supporting Android Enterprise configuration providing features above and beyond standard Android Enterprise restrictions. With our OEMCONFIG, new features or restrictions are available on Kyocera devices without waiting for EMM vendor updates.
