ALLEY-CASSETTY DEPLOYS KYOCERA DEVICES FOR RAPID TEAM COMMUNICATION
KYOCERA COLLABORATES TO IMPROVE TEAM COMMUNICATION & CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
overview
Alley-Cassetty has an incredible 145-year legacy as a premier brick and stone supplier – and while the company has continued to prosper through the decades, not all of the firm’s workflow processes were up to modern standards. With the Verizon 5G Nationwide network and Kyocera ultra-rugged, push-to-talk-capable devices, Alley-Cassetty enhanced employee productivity and reduced downtime, leading to more deliveries, happier customers, and revenue growth.
The challenge
Alley-Cassetty faces the challenge of managing vast quantities of materials and coordinating a diverse workforce across several locations to ensure seamless operations. With millions of bricks in multiple yards and a constant flow of deliveries, the team must synchronize drivers, forklift operators, and office staff to prevent delays and errors.
Despite Alley-Cassetty’s meticulous planning, unexpected changes like last-minute delivery cancellations underscored the need for rapid team communication and agile coordination.
Alley-Cassetty relied on analog means for dispatch and communication, like handwritten notes and face-to-face contact, creating lengthy workflows and disruptions in customer service. But, realizing the need to modernize, the company pursued digital solutions to improve communication and collaboration across its brickyards and state lines.

The course of action
Verizon solution architects assessed customer needs and recommended utilizing Verizon One Talk and Push to Talk Plus services on Kyocera ruggedized smartphones to improve Alley-Cassetty’s team communication and shorten delivery times.
THE SOLUTION
For drivers, Kyocera rugged smartphones were mounted in-cab with a CB radio-style receiver, allowing hands-free operation. Video and picture capturing capabilities enabled drivers to upload delivery documentation – which employees embraced, leading to healthy competition over which drivers had the cleanest deliveries, improving job performance by ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
This solution facilitated seamless collaboration across all business units, enabling instant communication from dispatch to delivery. The optimized workflow resulted in more daily deliveries, increased customer satisfaction, and revenue growth.
“What it allows us to do is make more turns in a day and ultimately make more deliveries, increase customer satisfaction, and quite frankly, make more money because we’re selling more,” said Randy Huffman, Chief Marketing Officer.
Plans for further technology deployment, including RFID scanning for inventory management, demonstrate Alley-Cassetty’s commitment to leveraging technology for continued success.
Partnering with Verizon and Kyocera, Alley-Cassetty embarked on a transformative journey to leverage cutting-edge communication technology to streamline its operations. Integrated solutions like Verizon One Talk and Push to Talk Plus provided employees with real-time communication capabilities, enabling faster decision-making and improved coordination.
By embracing technology and enhancing company-wide collaboration, Alley-Cassetty has optimized its operations and elevated the customer experience, solidifying its position as a leading, trusted supplier partner in the construction industry.
